About me
Jasmine Kahlia is a Curator and Multidisciplinary artist, currently working between 12-14 artforms. Jasmine coordinates the design, delivery and production for various live, recorded + hybrid performance pieces, along with developing the artistic concepts and aesthetic of the work. Since 2016, Jasmine Kahlia has done 4 exhibitions / live exhibitions in Rich Mix and awarded an Art Council Grant in 2017. The latest multidisciplinary piece Jasmine's created has been 'Divine Beings' which was showcased in Camden People's Theatre - SPRINT Festival, March 2020 and Norwich Fringe Festival 2021. Previous work includes: • INTERFACE•TY [a digital live- exhibition and performance about immigrant, queer and non-binary identities in the digital age], • Road Gals LDN [a digital exhibition i.e. digital collage, video, music performance and poetry], • Pirates Live [a live BSL installation about grime music & pirate radio] and • Top Girl [a workshop with young people about sex, consent and road violence / crime]. • 'Divine Beings' - [ Executive Producer + Editor for this piece, with Michael Knight Theatre ] Recent projects: Glasgow Zine Fest, Rural Arts Yorkshire, Kayd Somali Arts, MAIA Bursary, Complimentary Print by Tenderhands Press, Catalan TV3, Superfluous Archive, Sherwood Forest Zine Library [USA]. Over the past 5 years Jasmine Kahlia has developed a unique style documenting road culture, hood life and growing up around road violence. Jasmine also explores navigating life frm a QTIPOC perspective, and reflects on multiculturalism and mixed heritage, and it's influence. Genderfluidity, queer identity and ethnic heritage come to the forefront in Jasmine's work. Road culture, and music within inner London has been a major topic that Jasmine reflects on in their work, and Jasmine brings a lot of style, darkness and the element of danger / uncertainty into some of the featured pieces.
