Freelance Writer

Love Henry

Jan 2015 - Mar 2015
  • Whilst taking a year out after my studies to travel Australasia, I found some work as a freelance writer for Love Henry. Love Henry is an Australian owned and run company, delivering vintage inspired childrenswear all over the world. As a freelance writer I was responsible for writing press releases and blog posts. I worked closely with the owner and designers in order to make sure the tone of the piece fit in well with the company. Most recently I wrote the press release, which was featured in NABs (National Australian Bank) ‘Mumtrepreneur’ campaign, which was featured in the national paper The Courier.

2014

Editorial Assistant

The Food Drink Guides

May 2014 - Aug 2014
  • After interning for 8 weeks in a paid role, I was offered to take on my job permanently but due to previous travel plans, unfortunately, had to decline. I was responsible for a variety of tasks including copywriting, conducting email and phone interviews with chefs and clients, and writing profiles for some well-known chefs. Reviewing restaurants in person after attending a tasting, blogging about the latest restaurant and bar openings in the area and liaising with the various PR departments. I particularly enjoyed attending meetings in which we would discuss potential features for special issues and the brainstorming process, as much as writing the article or piece, which I was assigned. I was responsible for many jobs and enjoyed the responsibility, often taking on more and varying my role further to gain as much experience as possible. I was responsible for maintaining a strong social media and other online presence for both The Food and Drink Guides and their sister publication Food Festival Finder. I learnt a great deal about working to deadlines and under strict deadlines, which I found I thrived on.

Style Advisor

REISS

Jan 2014 - Jun 2014
  • During my degree, I worked part-time at the fashion brand REISS, as a style advisor specialising in men and women’s tailoring. I loved my time at REISS and gained a real interest in trends and fashion, paying particular attention to tailoring as I found this to be a kind of art form for both men and women. I enjoyed many successful sales for the company due to my knowledge and expertise including an entire wedding party of groomsmen and bridesmaids fitted with suits and dresses including accessories. I built on the retail experience I had already gained from Ted Baker and Hobbs.
