About me
Although we are moving towards a technological future, human nature dictates that there will still be a greater need for the tangible; flavours, textures and poetic imagery that stimulates and awaken our senses, enabling us to connect on a deeper and more meaningful level. As we evolve, the demands of our lifestyles and our ever-changing landscapes, requires a flexible individual capable of adapting to this growing environment. As such I believe that my role as a creative, will take on many forms. A provocateur willing to challenge ideals and stimulate debates, a visionary to inspire and stir the imagination, or a futurologist, seeking new tools and methods to design for a better future. Living in an age of global activity, requires an individual who is proactive in nature, willing to enhance their knowledge through learning, and will dynamically seek to utilise opportunities and their skills to actively collaborate with others from diverse academic and creative backgrounds, in finding innovative solutions in an increasingly progressive world.
Projects
  • Future Human
Future HumanA research-driven project examining the future impact of disruptive technologies on businesses and society. Working with the R&D team to explore the future potential and applications of 3D technologies. This involved understanding the technicalities of how the various 3D technologies worked and carrying out detailed research to understand its current and potential uses. By questioning the future, it led us to design face-tracking technology, which led to novel, commercial applications for the beauty and luxury jewellery industry.
  • International Genetic Engineering Machine: Quanticare
International Genetic Engineering Machine: QuanticareWorking as a visual designer, my role was to visualise and communicate the scientific project Quanticare, to enable a wider audience to understand the objectives of their research. This involved concept development, pre-production and post-production. The project was awarded a gold medal at the 2012 European iGem Jamboree in Amsterdam. Collaborators: Amy Congdon & Ann-Kristin Abel Client: University of East Anglia
  • Plants Out Of Place
Plants Out Of PlaceDelivery of event as part of London Design Festival. Leading a team of architects, contractors, designers and botanists to deliver a unique sensory event to the public. A bespoke open pavilion was constructed within Queens Park, where we hosted a curated exhibition, a series of workshops and food events. This was a non-for-profit project, which required careful budget management, strong negotiation skills and the ability to meticulous plan to minimise problems. This project had limited resources, funds, staff and time to deliver and execute the project, but with a detailed plan and time management we were able to deliver the event successfully. As a result, we received over 25 international reviews, named as one of the top 10 places to visit during London Design Festival, secured £50,000 in sponsorship and helped establish Queens Park as a critical design district. Partners: Claridge Architects & Queens Park, Drink Factory Sponsors: OLF, Pureprint, Caourun Gin, Heyne Tillet Steel, Lawson's Timber Collaborator: Coloni
Work history
    Research & Events
A highly involved, multifaceted role that require a high level of independence, flexible working and level head to meet the demands of the job. I oversee the management of key internal and external events for the textile department from conception to completion. I work closely with the team to translate their requirements within time frame and budget. Anticipating project needs, discerning work priorities to meet deadlines with minimal support and supervision. Forward planning to anticipate potential complications as a preventative measure and able to make decisions and take action. A highly complex, continuously changing role that involves a can do attitude, thinking on your feet and adapting to the needs of the organisation.
