Capital Xtra - Music Potential
I undertook an intense 6-week training course in radio production. This was a great opportunity to revisit the fundamental values which lay the foundations of the earliest form of entertainment. Radio regulations were heavily emphasised, with reference to other legalities surrounding the media which could potentially have impact. The experience was extremely beneficial for skill sharing between other aspiring media professionals. I was given the chance to lead a small team in structuring short radio segments which was also to include an interview. I also led a team in creating radio adverts as I had previous experience in radio and knew how to use the editing software available. I was shortlisted to host the showcase for Capital Xtra Music Potential - Birmingham which was organised by the events team.

I presented a weekly specialist show for university radio. The show specialised in old school Hip-Hop and R&B. I produced and edited my own radio content and also promoted my show via social media. As it was a specialist show, I didn't have a playlist to choose my music from, I had to source new music every week to fill the entirety of the show. I also had to do extensive research into the genres to keep the show interesting and so that the audience learn something new about the music or even just to relive special moments.
