I studied photography at Nottingham Trent university for 3 years, mainly focusing on documentary and portraiture. In my final year I focused on documenting the UK urban music scene, creating a final set of images for an exhibition and a magazine. I wrote a dissertation on grime's representation on visual culture in the UK and gained the dissertation award for an 'outstanding piece of writing'. Throughout my years of studying I learnt about studio and outdoor lighting, a vast amount of camera equipment, critical practice and digital and analog camera practices.

I won an award for my dissertation on grime's visual culture in the UK, it was described as a timely discussion on an unexplored area of an underground music culture.
