I head up our Creative Team (10 people), and am responsible for all branded output for the UK's #1 SME insurance provider. This includes our internal and external communications, all copy, advertising and marketing content, PR materials and so on. Key to my role is supporting our executive team (from CEO to contact centre director), ensuring they're comfortable with our approach, and that as a brand we're on-message 24/7.
Whilst still overseeing the week to week content output for Simply Business, in this role I set strategy and budgets for 2015, in line with our wider business growth objectives. Working closely with our Head of marketing and Chief customer officer (CCO), I was responsible for hitting our commercial objectives, whilst safeguarding the brand and enhancing the creative. My background in copy was perhaps the biggest asset, here.
Although I was quickly promoted to content and comms manager, I joined Simply Business as senior copywriter. With an agency background, I was soon identified as the go-to for tone of voice setting, short copy creation, customer communication drafting and day-to-day copy needs and queries. Since taking on and recruiting for the role, I’ve proved quality copy to be a core commercial need and function, rather than a ‘nice-to-have'.
