About me
Hi, I'm Jess! Founder of The Co-Working Club, a supportive community which helps female business owners wave goodbye to the loneliness that comes with working from home and add more connection into their working weeks! After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Photography I worked within a variety of roles for national brands such as AO.com and Hillarys developing my knowledge of content marketing, social media, SEO, event management and influencer marketing. During this time I also started to pick up some freelance social media work on the side via contacts I’m made within my day job. Thanks to many word of mouth recommendations my client base grew quite substantially within a short period of time and in December 2017 I was able to take the leap into full-time self-employment specialising in offering social media marketing services for creative business owners. After achieving what had felt like a life-long ambition of becoming my own boss I experienced for the first time the realities of being my own boss and working from home. With no co-workers to chat to and often going days without leaving the house, I found that the loneliness and isolation started to have a negative impact on my mental health and well-being. In late 2018, I started arranging casual co-working meet-ups at a local coffee shop with a couple of freelancers I knew and over time this began to grow and gain interest from a whole host female business owners based in Nottingham. This is when The Co-Working Club was officially born! In 2020 pandemic forced us to press pause on our in-person meet-ups and events so instead we decided to take our community online and that’s when The Online Club was born. During a time of intense physical seperation, The Online Club was an absolute lifeline for myself and many of our members and provided some much needed daily connection! After years of dreaming about it, in February 2022 I FINALLY picked up the keys to our own permanent space and within four weeks had transformed it into The Co-Working Clubhouse, Nottingham’s first and only all-female co-working space! We officially opened the doors to welcome our first guests on International Women’s Day and have been welcoming female business owners, freelancers and remote workers to our dreamy space in the heart of the Lace Market ever since.
