About me
As the Music and Film Editor at The Student Pocket Guide, I am passionate about creating fresh ideas and meeting new people who have unique and impactful perspectives. I completed my English BA degree in 2019 and then went on to receive a distinction for my Film and Television MA in 2020. My commitment to radio, television, film, and publishing has furthered my ambition to succeed in the media industry, of which I am excited about exploring in depth.

I recently became a digital marketing intern where I adopted both an administrative and creative role; I was responsible for managing GradSmart’s social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook), and also created social copy and blog posts, edited and created short form videos, and designed posts. I have been responsible for some of the company’s most integral pieces of social copy, advertising their new personality test, and initiating a new talking heads advice section for their Instagram reel. This role has furthered my skills in using Photoshop and Canva, and I am also now confidently able to use management software such as Notion.

I took on a leading role as the producer of my group documentary portrait which demonstrated my exceptional production skills, impeccable organisational skills, and my ability to take initiative. I have excellent presentation and speaking skills, and can use PowerPoint and Prezi to articulate my ideas; I can also confidently use Adobe Premier Pro to create and edit film, and have been given some training in using a SONY PXW-SF54K camera and a sound kit. I aim to produce content that prioritises unheard voices, I want to enlighten and educate audiences; I recently co-created a film that challenged the misconceptions of female sexuality; I also pitched a documentary proposal on the misconceptions of ‘clean’ eating, prioritising the voices of members of the BEAT society. I believe that social media has had an immense impact on the way we view people, products, and brands; my dissertation was based on how reality stars have redefined celebrity culture; I spent a vast amount of time researching Influencer and social media culture. I am keen to learn new skills; I have since completed LinkedIn learning courses regarding the latest social media marketing trends and tools, while also discovering the basics of using InDesign.

Exemplary analytical and research skills in both literature and film, my ‘Celebrity Cultures’, ‘American Revolutions’, and ‘Women Writers’ modules relied on a range of digital media. I can confidently use all areas of media to support and develop an argument and can apply own ideas to areas of critical thinking; the above modules required the individual creation of a portfolio; I combined critical and creative writing skills to write a meditation on Freddie Mercury and the film Bohemian Rhapsody. I can confidently use Word, Excel, as well as blog sites such as blogspot.com and WordPress. I have been lucky enough to develop my research skills while exploring subjects that matter to me, my dissertation, for example, was concerned with how fictional novels have depicted women’s mental health.
