I founded Dumpster Chic in order to put on the kind of gigs I wanted to attend and promote the artists I love. It turns out that many other people wanted to come to these shows too. I succeeded in organising popular shows at some notorious venues including the Shacklewell Arms and The Windmill Brixton. I managed and built on meaningful professional relationships with other promoters, artists, venue managers, engineers, and record labels, managing multidisciplinary promotional teams. I source all bands for shows, artists for posters, create copy for social media, handle the budget, invoices and advances along with responding to queries and emails via social media and email.

I have a range of duties that keep the store running to it’s high standards. In my own time I research commercial publishing and find out what the next big releases are and of course read an awful lot showing my panoramic knowledge of publications new and old in order to assist be able customers properly and of course the love of reading itself. I provide attentive, friendly yet efficient customer service to all patrons via email, phone and of course in person.
My favourite part of the job, which I think I excel at, is copywriting for shop displays. Coming up with witty descriptions to engage with the customer, enticing them to pick up a book is a lot of fun.
The store has held many signings and readings with world famous authors. I worked with the events team looking after high profile talent and creating itinerary for the event itself. I have had the pleasure to work with the likes of Patti Smith, Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Debbie Harry, Hilary Mantel and Margaret Atwood to name but a few.
