Master of ArtsThe Courtauld Institute of Art
     - London, United Kingdom
Degree in History of Art, specialising in 20th century American art, high merit. The course entitled, ‘The Sixties: Eccentric, Erotic, Psychotic’, broadened my understanding of artists such as Hannah Wilke, Louise Bourgeois, Dan Flavin, Eva Hesse, Lee Lozano, Yayoi Kusama, Howardena Pindell, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol and many others. I analysed and debated texts and critical theory from the fields of art history, art criticism, feminism, political science, psychoanalysis, critical race theory, literature and queer theory. My dissertation titled, Waving the Flag of Painterly Protest: Sam Gilliam’s ‘Double Merge’ (1968) focused on the relationship between abstract painting and political protest through the work of Sam Gilliam.
