The course combines the vocational skills of journalism with the
critical nature of media studies. From evaluating propaganda in a post-truth society to researching the commodification of the self and sex on mobile dating apps, the course has been enriching and inspiring. Skills I have acquired include content creation for online and print; sub editing and design for tabloid, broadsheet and magazine; and basic media law. Additionally, the networking opportunities provided to be have proven valuable and my thirst to learn has been evident to the connections I have made. My most prominent achievement is the realisation of my own print magazine in conjunction with the largest UK arts festival, Brighton Fringe.
