About me
I am a recent graduate of Nottingham Trent University, with a degree in BA (Hons) Textile Design specialising in printed textiles for interiors. My graduate collection (available to view in Projects), was inspired by my two main passions, Mid-Century design and Brutalism. The collection incorporated functional design aspects for a post-pandemic home, such as room dividing screens to separate working and living environments. I have a strong eye for composition, allowing my initial photography to influence my designs, and use bold yet sophisticated colour palettes within my collections. I have received a commendation from the Bradford Textile Society and have two shortlisted wallpaper designs in the 2021 IDOTT competition.

CONCRETE POETRYGRADUATE COLLECTION Twenty-twenty has bought chaos and uncertainty to our everyday lives in a way that we never expected. Our homes have needed to quickly adapt to this new way of living and allow us somewhere to work, learn and relax. ‘Concrete Poetry’ is a seasonless interior collection that will future proof our homes and give us room to live the new normal. As an explore leaning tutor, my job role is to coach and support children’s development in English and Maths. Tailoring tuition to a child’s individual needs, I am responsible for their progress in learning key skills and celebrating their achievements along the way. As an analytical problem solver myself, I have enjoyed passing this mindset onto the children. This role has enabled me to develop relationships and build a level of trust, not only with the children but with the parents and my fellow colleagues too.

In 2020 I started my own interior furnishings business, Jessica Louise Studio. As a textile design student, I used my skills and knowledge of the interior market to design and produce a collection of high quality lampshades and accompanying photographic prints. I am confident using Adobe software such as Photoshop and InDesign and have a keen eye for composition. Running a small business has enabled me to develop many new skills, including liaising with manufactures to overcome production issues and building a strong customer base to encourage repeat sales. I have recently secured a grant from the NTU Enterprise Team in conjunction with Santander to enable me to continue growing my business. jessicalouisestudio.Etsy.Com
