Fashion Designer Italy
About me
Born in 1990 in New York and raised in Rome, Jezabelle Cormio is a women’s fashion designer who graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Fashion Design from the prestigious Royal Academy of Antwerp in 2013. In 2012 she collaborated through a sponsorship with Fiorentini + Baker, to create a collection of women’s shoes designed for her Bachelor’s graduation collection, which was awarded the ‘Anna Heylen Craftsmanship Award’ that same year. In 2013 she was selected by Ann Demeulemeester to represent emerging Belgian talent in an exhibition, entitled Fashion@EgmontPalais, curated by herself in honor of the incoronation of HRM Mathilde Queen of Belgium, to whom it was presented. Her first men’s wear collection after graduation was bought by Opening Ceremony and distributed globally, in their stores in Los Angeles, New York and London. After a short period as assistant designer in the house of Paco Rabanne, in the summer of 2015 she began the preparatory work that lead to the launch of CORMIO in 2016: a line of luxury contemporary evening-wear that is currently being distributed by Opening Ceremony stores exclusively. Her aim is to take a new approach to an old tradition, by creating new imagery for contemporary women in occasion-wear, offering a true reflection of today’s contradictive and un-conventional ways of embodying femininity. She lives and works in Bassano del Grappa, in Veneto, where she develops and follows the production of her collections, as well as draw new links between her emerging brand and the established industry expertise of the region.

CORMIO was launched in 2016 by fashion designer Jezabelle Cormio, with a vision to create a line of luxury contemporary evening-wear. Her aim is to take a new approach to an old tradition, by creating new imagery for contemporary women in occasion-wear, offering a true reflection of today’s contradictive and un-conventional ways of embodying femininity. CORMIO collections are rooted in Italian craftsmanship, with all fabrics of the highest quality and manufacturing based in Italy. The artisanal 'hand-made' approach to garment making mixed with a passion for mystical glamour is a key balance to the definition of CORMIO. Anarchic evening-wear and 'liquid tailoring', meaning a fluid interpretation of traditional tailoring, are the two focus points of each collection. Vintage archive pieces are referenced anachronistically to offer a purpuseful misinterpretation of our western culture. In an attempt to ‘break’ our culture to absorb new influences, the collections are infused with re-interpreted elements of foreign cultures: from the replication of Vodoo symbology, to the graphics of Santeria ritual essences, to traditional Chinese brocade coated in resin to resemble the surface of antique lacquered wood. Prints, custom treatments on found fabrics and embroidery are an essential aspect of the brand’s aesthetic. For the first editorial campaign of Spring Summer 17, CORMIO collaborated with Paris based photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti on a project featuring Spanish painter Lorena Prain, to capture the youthful essence of the brand. The collection met the precious support of Opening Ceremony, who will be distributing CORMIO exclusively. In January 2017 CORMIO was selected by Clara Tosi Pamphili to present four complete looks at A.I. Artisanal Intelligence during Altaroma. In mid March 2017 CORMIO closed it’s second sales campaign in Paris under Stem Showroom and is currently developing its SS18 collection.
