I am Joan Carreras, graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona with a bachelor's degree in screen-printing and engraving.
Currently, I am studying third course of Product Design in Elisava.
I consider myself restless nor curious person whom, constantly tries to innovate and discover new or different ways to communicate and express myself in order to make my world and imaginary understood by the people who I work with and for.
I am critical and always try to design with rationality and functionality who believes that making emphasysis in the research phase is going to define the whole project.
At the end, aesthetics is something that is given if these two previous ones fulfill their mission.

Feel Your FeetELISAVA - Barcelona School of Design and Engineering

Feel your feet is a different way and point of view for understanding footwear as we are used to. Working with La Manual Alpargatera, we've based on the sensitivity and freshness that espadrilles aport us, we want to rethink this traditional footwear concept. Basing on the utility footwear we usually wear reduces sensitivity, we want to propose, develop and conceive a new way steping and but also human footprint. Feet is the organ in charge of regulating our body, our base. We have lots of nervous terminations in ours hands but even-more in our feet and the fact of being into a sock at the into the shoe produces further reduction on the main sensitivity of it. From feel your feet, we want to change this paradigm, playing with materials that will potentially increase this sensitivity taking reference of reflexology as a pseudoscientific method for transmitting everything we step on. Earth surrounds us and if we understand where we come from, we can make big steps.

ExperimentELISAVA - Barcelona School of Design and Engineering
- Barcelona, SpainInternship
Taking reference of “La noche de los jueves” of Sociedad 0, we have created and developed a workshop based on experimentation and the connexion of found materials. The workshop took place during Festisava’s annual event.
It lasted four hours where, students, picked unknown materials during the their way from home into university. The workshop also facilitated materials so everyone could work with good conditions and equality. The initial and base materials we used were corrugated cardboard but also plasterboard and leftovers provided by the graphic and prototyping workshops of the school. After the activity, all the resultant pieces where part of the exposition made at the student comunal room of Elisava.
