About me
Joanna Penso has experience in several different art institutions across London. Working in research, immersive theatre, event organisation, production and curation. Recent projects have been Beyond The Road at the Saatchi Gallery, Site Manager for ArtAngel, VAULT Festival and Freeword. She is also a practising artist working with audio installation.

  • INSULAE [of the island]
    INSULAE [of the island]Flying low over digitally rendered waves, Nye Thompson's video installation INSULAE [Of the Island] contemplates the impact of island geography on national identity in a perpetually looping virtual tour of the waters just off the British mainland. With the ocean as a metaphorical buffer between the UK and the rest of the world, we are taken on a lonely journey patrolling our borders.   • Photoplay Series
    Photoplay SeriesPhotoplay was a series of art film nights I curated whilst working for Brewdog Clerkenwell. The idea was to break down the barrier between high culture and low culture in order to show their customers something they may not have otherwise stumbled upon. We showed art films from recent graduates and animation artists and ended up taking double the projected takings for that day on the bar.
