Joanna had her own stand at Premiere Vision Designs in September 2015. There, she presented work that she created during her graduate collection and also created more recent fashion fabric samples to present to the industry. Experience gained in pricing, invoicing and legal restrictions. Working on the stand at Premiére Vision provided experience in liaising with customers and design professionals in a business context.
Working within the print department assisting in trend forecasting, research, colour palettes, retouching, typography, fabric sourcing and recolouring. Additionally Joanna returned to assist in the preparation for the S/S15 show, working in the model castings, run throughs and preparation.
I experienced a range of roles whilst at Lee Publicity such as: - Sorting each brand that is represented by the company - Organising show rooms - Sending out garments for publications/shoots/press events - Assisting on press days- setting up, dressing, organising gifts, general organisation for a smooth running day - Working as stylist's assistant on photo shoot- organising clothes, props, dressing, lighting etc. - Producing design sheets for key products from each brands to send to press.
Joanna assisted in the production of printing final lengths of fabrics for the show garments (Sept 2014). The role included: - Prepping fabrics to print - Exposing, stripping and editing screens to print - Screen printing lengths of show fabrics - Painting/ touching up fabrics by hand - Foiling lengths of show fabrics - Working constructively within the print studio
Responsibilities whilst undertaking position at Peter Pilotto: - Assisting within the studio - Basic pattern cutting - Organisation of toiles/toile fittings - Handling/ sorting fabrics - Assisting pattern cutters with fittings - Archiving and organisation of fitting records - Sourcing trimmings - Assisting the head pattern cutter/ designers in all fit sessions - Taking measurements, recording alterations, altering garments - Communicating with departments, relaying key information and alterations, keeping on track of each garment's development -Working and assisting on two collections - Assisting in model castings during LFW, measurements/alterations - Assisting stylists during LFW prep meetings. - Dressing backstage at LFW, assisting with backstage organisation. - Assisting in buyers meetings post show
At Carbon Colour I built up my initial skills on programmes such as Photoshop and Indesign. I was able to assist on print jobs, as well as seeing the development of products from on screen to printed items. It allowed me to see how graphic designers work and ignited my passion for digital print design.
