Writer, curator & historian, obsessed with uncovering forgotten stories and rewriting the familiar. New Yorker via London. My book, “The Extra Woman,” tells the true story of Marjorie Hillis, a fabulous 1930s self-help guru for single women. My new book project is about Heterodoxy, a secret feminist club in 1910s Greenwich Village. I'm a widely published literary critic and essayist, and have worked as a curator and researcher in women’s history for New York’s oldest museum. I hold a PhD in English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University in New York.

As a key part of a small curatorial and research team, I worked to open the first dedicated Center for Women’s History in a major US museum, in spring 2017. Researched, wrote, and edited content for a permanent interactive multimedia installation covering 400+ years of women’s history in New York State. Conceived and curated a temporary gallery show marking the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in the state.
