About me
My 17 years of hairstyling experience, attention to detail and expert knowledge of 300+ braiding techniques should be of interest to a forward thinking and focused brands. After training at Aveda in High Holborn and cult salon Cuts in London’s Soho, I then made the move to freelance to take more creative control, assisting high profile names including Johnnie Sapong and Rita Ora’s personal hairstylist Chris Appleton. My own efforts saw me work on fashion editorials, braiding workshops and pop-ups, along with projects for Vogue x Topshop, House of Holland, Selfridges, Nike x Liberty London, to name but a few. More recently, my extensive and in depth knowledge of braiding along with the idea of giving back to the community, has me working towards technically drawing and writing steps for 700+ braiding techniques. This strand-by-strand approach will be compiled into a book or volumes and are designed to help enthusiasts with creative braiding in and after sessions. This information will add to my one stop educational braiding shop for those also wishing to unlock their woven magnificence. Realising each drafted braid in continuity made a beautiful motif, I decided explored the use of analytical and perspective geometry to inform my understanding of how to artistically adapt my educational braiding materials (initially drafted on a4 graph paper;) into stunning original artwork. As it’s a challenging to find innovative 2ml graph paper in amazing shapes, sizes or designs, I’ve spent 5.5 years creating my own 50x65cm page guides, these guides allow me to create artworks that bend and depict the unique woven educational motifs in original ways. My ongoing lessons in perspective and proportional geometry along with lettering, expand on these unique pairings, and over time will more accurately depict stunning utility in new and eye-catching ways. These ingredients offer the subject and hair industry, insight, artistic growth, and clarity in this area of expression. It would be great to contribute my skillset to the right projects, hear thoughts on upcoming ideas you’re planning, as I’m eager to build an amazing, creative working relationship with you, your brand and team.

In 2017 I started creating art with the educational material, as each braid created a stunning unique pattern. Initially drafting on a4 graph paper, then moving onto 90gsm tracing paper as my understanding grew, so did my ability to create innovative 50x65cm 2ml guides which wiggled, spiralled and wove like my braids. I plan on continuing to play with symmetry, tessellation, perspective and lettering in the hope that this woven curiosity will add to the industry and people ideas of what’s possible when your only limit really is your creativity.
