Diligent young creative and freelance writer and researcher, recently finished at MTV as an assistant and then project manager in the Talent & Music and Social Responsibility teams respectively. An avid writer and performer, I have an ear-to-the-ground approach to music and the arts.
I am relishing the challenge of assisting the Netherlands-based music agency Sizzer with music searches for their clients on a freelance basis; I have worked on projects with clients such as Hugo Boss, Levis and Ikea, who all have creative and innovative approaches to music for adverts.
I am enjoying writing for this London based music and gig listings magazine, predominantly dealing with reviews and editorial-style interviews for their website. This is a paid role and have been given increasing responsibility.
I have covered festivals, new music discoveries, and particularly enjoy live and record reviews. It has involved learning a new ‘house-style’ of writing and it has been enriching adapting to other editors’ demands, and furthermore I upload my pieces directly to the site, so I have experience using both Wordpress and CMS.
After finishing my year’s marketing internship in the International Talent & Music team I was invited back on a freelance basis to help coordinate a project run by the Social Responsibility department sourcing young international talent and giving them opportunities at this year’s MTV European Music Awards, an event I was heavily involved in 2016 in Rotterdam, NL. This work was crucial in developing an eye for detail and keeping on top of a project from a macro perspective, and developed production and managerial skills such as event planning, cross-department coordination, interviewing candidates, and delegating work to junior staff. I particularly enjoyed the aspect of having a specific project to look after and see it through to fruition.
I was selected from over 300 applicants for a year’s paid internship-scheme in the International Talent and Music department, assisting executives and directors with coordinating marketing and promotional campaigns and pitches, being a face for the company by meeting label reps, artists & management, music research for booking and broadcast, playlist creation, international playlist programming, event production, as well as having a direct input in the direction of original content. Given my journalistic background, I also assisted with overflow of editorial pieces for MTV UK, writing features and interviewing talent for online content
