I call what I do the ABCDs: Advertising, Branding, Culture, and Digital.
I completed my MBA in 1998 and moved to London to work the hard yards in Advertising. I spent 7 years working media and client side in management roles - where I went from advertising sales and sponsorship to planning and buying. In 2005 I branched out as a marketing consultant, professional trainer, and academic. I moved up the ranks as an academic (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Programme Director, Associate Prof., Associate Dean, and finally Full-Professor) and knocked out a PhD part-time in 3 years. Now I balance my time between industry consulting projects and academia.
I have spoken at conferences across the globe on over 100 occasions, and published over 200 pieces of work.
I have worked internationally with a range of government, corporate, and university clients on projects in the following sectors: Halal, travel, tourism, education, technology, media, food, fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, finance, professional services, music, sports, identity, ethnicity, religion, Gen-Y, Gen-Z, and popular culture.
I champion the art of Science and the science of Art. I have a Chemistry degree, but for my doctorate I decided to investigate Global Branding, Management, and Consumer trends - exploring how brands influence cultures and cultures shape brands. I draw from the work of Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Al Ghazali - all of which helped me to develop my own Branding model.
