About me
Content lead, editor and cultural insights researcher with 10 years’ experience as a writer and editor, and 5 years’ experience within startup environments. I hold a MSc in social and cultural anthropology, earned following two months of ethnographic research into Ayahuasca tourism in the Ecuadorian Andes. Most recently I've worked as Head of Content at AwayAway, an AI-assisted digital travel agency. I oversaw the content ecosystem, including commissioning and managing a network of 15+ international travel journalists, producing UX copywriting and shaping the brand tone of voice. Formerly Head of Content at Quantum Temple, a regenerative travel startup powered by blockchain technology, I oscillate between management, operations and creation. I also have a track record of pitching ideas and producing work for magazines, brands, and research and trend forecasting agencies. I'm a digital nomad who discovered a love for island living in Latin America in 2023. Before embracing this lifestyle, I earned my stripe working for London-based editorial teams, including as a Senior Commissioning Editor and Travel Writer at travel startup Culture Trip. Previously, I've worked in-house at an independent fashion magazine and within luxury e-commerce. My lifestyle and travel journalism has seen me babble at trees in a bid to rewild my spirit for Telegraph Travel, hop in a CO2 bath in the Czech Republic for ABTA Magazine, spend the night in an Italian 11th century chapel for Culture Trip, and report on Ukrainian Fashion Week for an independent fashion magazine. I’ve explored conscious consumption in London, spotlighted the community redefining Johannesburg's inner-city landscape, examined the link between sightings of hazardous waste and Indigenous communities in Nova Scotia, Canada, and chatted climate change with the producer of Seven Worlds, One Planet. I've also written extensively across lifestyle pillars: test-driving wellness trends, covering London fashion week, and interviewing numerous fashion designers, photographers and artists. As an editor, I've project managed and delivered huge volumes of travel and hotel-focused articles from award-winning journalists. As of 2025, I’m also working as a somatic coach and psychedelic integration guide. My website josephineplatt.com details my body-based coaching approach for mind-first people, and my trainings with The Embody Lab, Polyvagal Institute and Chacruna Institute.

    • Specialised in investigative methodologies, digital, magazine and fashion journalism. • Completed modules in ethics and media law. • Create a 16-page magazine using Adobe Creative Suite. My dissertation explored the ethics of journalistic subterfuge – questioning whether deceit is ever justified in pursuit of the truth. I used qualitative research methods, in the form of in-depth interviews with prominent investigative journalists, including a Pulitzer Prize winner, to form my conclusion.
