I have been volunteering at the Imperial War Museum since March 2017, working as part of the Visual Resources Department. I have gained knowledge about the museum and enjoying being a part of the digitisation team supporting other departments. As a volunteer I am sorting the prepared material and digitising photographs to make the archive more interactive and accessible for both research purposes and for the general public. I am attending training sessions and workshops with other museum staff such as photogrammetry. I am also helping the team with additional tasks. My job involves handling of archival material on the day to day basis that requires following the museum's high standards of collection management procedures. I am passionate about twentieth century history gaining experience in academic research, graphic design, and publications during my fine art course.
In this ongoing project our team is archiving various items from the Camberwell College of Arts and Central Saint Martins collections, using photogrammetry 3D archiving method to make the objects available for research purposes.
During the Fine Art section’s Second Year exhibition I was helping the curators with general tasks including art handling (sculptures, paintings, photographs, drawings, digital installations), registering and labelling artworks according to exhibition standards, assisting within installation and de-installation.
Assisting the photographers setting up studio lighting on location and looking after the photo equipment. My duty was to make sure the lighting set ups are correct the batteries are always fully charged, memory cards are available for the upcoming photo shoots and the photographs are catalogued accurately. Also had to greet the costumers and directing them to the photo booth.
I am a third year photography student at Camberwell College of Arts. My main interest is to use the aesthetics of photography and neuroaesthetics to specialize in curating and experimental exhibition design. I am currently writing my dissertation how immersive installation, architecture and interior design could be used as experimental approaches in exhibition making.
I have completed my Professional Photography Foundation Degree in Bristol. During my course I have developed strong black and white darkroom skills. I have used 35/120 mm and large format SLR cameras along full frame and medium format DSLRs. As part of my course I have learned how to use lenses, cameras, studio lighting (in studio and on location), other additional equipment, Adobe Creative Suite workflow, social media strategy, creating my own website, writing artist statements and responding proposals.
