London, Shoreditch based Juliano Cordano is a multi-disciplined contemporary artist whose art reflects expertise in the fields of architecture, interior and furniture design. His artwork seemingly blurs the lines between architecture and art.
Without categorisation, his work is fundamentally inspired by shapes, shadows, and the finite detail that makes architecture. He acutely understands the spellbinding precision required to create the hard, yet fluid shapes and angles of built structures admired in buildings, and how they lay bare the ways they influence and impact our lives.
The foundation of his practice rests in his architectural and design training but is influenced by his living throughout the world, where environments, populations, and conventions differ by culture, geography, and socio-political influences. His art is a homage to all of these.
Projects
- Gentrification CollectionGENTRIFICATION is a collection inspired by balustrades and facades of new buildings in Shoreditch, London and SOMA, San Francisco. This series is a personal reflection of my experience living in different cities and countries around the world, and my perspective on local, social, and urban matters within these places.
- Vilanova CollectionVILANOVA is a series of wall panels inspired by Brazilian Brutalist Architecture produced in the State of Sao Paulo during the 1960’s. Its name is a homage to the most influential architect of this generation, Joao Batista Villanova Artigas. This collection is a celebration of simple shapes and their shadows.
- Untold_layer CollectionUNTOLD LAYER is the first collection of wall panels based on the architectural process of understanding the complexity of layers that is part of the European Architecture and Interiors. This series presents the fundamental conflict between what was learned as a Brazilian Architect and a new affinity or curiosity for classical aesthetics.
