[Cover letter] I am a young designer looking to join a great team of creatives with in the politics, media and design industry. Your advert caught my eye as I was scrolling through your website. Being from a Middle Eastern background I was born in Manchester and raised in London. I felt my culture was isolated from mainstream society as the Arab world is very miss understood and demonized in today’s media. When finally moving to London I developed a passion for architecture, interior and design. By the age of 10 and I can recall drawing buildings and redesigning furniture while all my friends drew fruit pots and tiger eyes. It was my dad that help me pressure my career as he taught me to draw with points and perspective. By the age of 16 I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer and I am so grateful for the support of my parents in comparison to my other friends who were encouraged to go down the science and math’s route. I recently graduated from the University of Greenwich with a 2:1 in Graphic and digital design. I feel so blessed to have had the chance to study design in London and especially in an area with such beautiful architecture and greenery at my door step. I feel university shaped me in to a professional designer and allowed me to explore different techniques and genres I didn’t even know existed. I remember my tutor pulling me to the side one day after lectures and said “Jumana you’re very lucky, you’ve been gifted with a natural ability and a keen eye with in design, I hope you utilise it well.” Her faith in me was the motivation I needed to keep on exploring my passion and was later offered a position in the design and marketing department with in the University which is where I am working now. I have attached my Portfolio and University blog to the CV. I hope you enjoy flicking through and I look forward to hearing from you.
