Social media marketing executive for BBC iPlayer, I am responsible for leading the brand's social media and activity. Responsibilities include: • Developing and implementing a new social media strategy • Managing relationship with external agencies providing social marketing assets for BBC iPlayer • Lead social media for BBC iPlayer marketing campaigns • Creating assets that can be used across brand social media channels to amplify marketing objectives
Managing daily content and editorial for all brand digital platforms including the website, mobile app and multiple social media accounts. Overhauled and optimised the brand’s YouTube and social media presence, resulting in record views, followers and engagement growth. E.g. increasing YouTube views from 641k views to 25 million, Twitter followers from 41k to 528k and leaving the brand with 100k Instagram followers after starting it from scratch. Built content and social media strategies for brand priorities and editorial campaigns in addition to producing monthly social media reports and analysis. Produced a weekly e-newsletter distributed to 150k subscribers. Worked with web developers to look for ways to continually improve website and app functionality.
Manage network homepages, deliver content and contribute to the development of new output for a range of projects and programme brands across BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra, including the Scott Mills show, Live Lounge, Radio 1 specialist shows and the 1Xtra website as a whole. Plan and manage online projects to enhance and support broadcast content. Utilise social media to reach more of the Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra audiences, and encourage the sharing of content where possible. Attend and produce content for a range of events and outside broadcasts both in the UK and abroad. For example, taking photographs, producing video content and complying live video streams at the BRIT Awards, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Ayia Napa and Jamaica. Work with designers, technical experts and technical project managers to ensure projects meet time and budget constraints. Liaise with internal departments and maintain contact with appropriate external tastemakers and organisations to maximise publicity and increase user traffic.
Co-ordinate content and maintain sections of the specialist music interactive output of BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Build and maintain microsites for a range of network priorities, ensuring they contain accurate metadata and occasionally involving CSS manipulation. Contribute creative ideas, build and maintain relationships with contacts internally and externally for syndication of content. Liaise with programme teams to and produce interactive feature ideas that compliment the radio shows and are creative, useful and entertaining for our audience. Taking and manipulate photographs for the websites, converting audio and video files for use on the web and updating both sites using content management systems and HTML. Build communities around the networks via social media and encourage conversation around key brands and station initiatives.
