Lead the teams involved in mass digitisation
of heritage records, including the Estimating, Conservation, Imaging & QA, 3rd Party Digitisation and Transcription and Software Processes to deliver the expected income and contribution targets as well as develop them to grow in-line with the 5 year forecast
– Ensure the smooth execution and delivery of all mass digitisation projects in line with customer and business expectations
– Develop and improve services, tools and methods of access to support the above
– Line manage 5 managers with responsibility for a team of 45 staff across 5 teams
– Lead and develop a culture of commercial professionalism within the teams and also promote and advocate the requirement for income generation within the wider organisation
– Ensure that communications across the team are frequent and clear, so that all staff understand what is expected of them, the outcomes they are seeking to deliver, and how best to co-operate to achieve them
– Ensure that each member of staff has clear performance targets which identify both their own role, and how it relates to the wider goals
of the organisation and that staff are given regular feedback on how they are performing
– Define and deliver the expertise required to achieve the desired level of service
– Identify the right way forward in situations of considerable complexity using resources shared across the National Archives to provide solutions for our customers
– Lead multiple challenging priorities successfully
– Understand comparable digitisation services
offered elsewhere and ensure The National Archives learns from developments in other services in the UK and overseas
Imaging Production ManagerThe National Archives

digitisation operators
– Allocating resources in order to maintain efficiency
throughout all sections of the project
– Preparing weekly progress reports for project
monitoring
– Producing project guidelines and process
documentation for the purpose of training new
members of staff
– Contributing to the training and evaluation of all
employees
– Monitoring the performance of all staff thereby
ensuring maximum productivity
– Undertaking research regarding specific historical
events for various marketing pursuits
– Contributing to and testing the developing public
website in order to improve the user experience
and the ultimate value of this research portal
– Liaising with key stakeholders to report issues and
working collectively to implement solutions
– Respresenting Brightsolid and The British Library
by welcoming interested media partners to the Bindery, acting as a project ambassador
