RUBY LDN is the founder of RUBYLDN.UK and is a photographer of a plethora of genres such as Still Life, Portraiture, Events, Live Performances, Headshots, Fashion, documentary and photojournalism.
She believes that being a photographer allows her to show how she sees and interpret the world. Documentary and photojournalism is 50% of her photography and has the belief that it is her job to tell the truth especially when photographing events like protests. "The truth can be bent when told verbally but a photo always holds the truth". The other 50% of her photography is totally creative, fun and dramatic.
In addition to being a photographer, she is also a leadership team member for a photographic community group called UK Black Female photographers. There is also a private Facebook community group which has almost 300 women. This community is a safe space for black female photographers new and established to discuss issues faced in the industry, to support and express themselves.
Ruby has had work featured in many outlets such as Standard, Rollingstone, Billboard, Grazia, Mirror, Metro newspaper, ESPN, Yahoo, The Times, The Sun, AOL, GQ France, ITV.com, Shortlist, Marie Claire Russia, Guardian, Telegraph, Business Insider and Runners World.
In 2020, RUBYLDN and the rest of the UKBFTOG leadership team curated an exhibition within 6 weeks called 'We Are Here' which was a great success and had coverage from the BBC, The Guardian and local media in the Midlands.
RUBY LDN was also a photography consultant for Channel 4's female-led drama anthology series 'I Am' a collaboration between director Dominic Savage and actor Leticia Wright, which is still to air.
