Exhibition statement
“The house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace.”
- Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space
In her exhibition “a home for us”, Kasia Hope creates artworks that reference specific homes and objects from her childhood as a way of digesting emotional wounds. She juxtaposes memories of warmth and protection with narratives of personal and intergenerational trauma. Through entering an environment that both shelters the viewer and confronts them, Hope is inviting the audience to not only be a part of her own memories, but also key into their own experiences.
