My latest article was written in commemoration of Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, Riah Milton, Tony McDade, and countless other black transgender people, who recently lost their lives due to police brutality and systematic racism: https://katmills94.wordpress.com/2020/06/14/silence-is-the-enemy-we-must-get-comfortable-being-uncomfortable/

During the first term studying for my MA I was a regular radio presenter; Literary Hour with Kat Mills aired every Friday. I thoroughly enjoyed working to tight deadlines, broadcasting high quality content for my listeners. I relished the researching and communicating aspect required to secure various speakers. My guests included April Magazine's Editor-in-chief Youjin Lee, New Scientist's Acting Editor-in-Chief Graham Lawton, and Writer and Journalist Emma Woolf (great niece of Virginia Woolf). You can listen to some of the episodes here: https://www.mixcloud.com/kat-mills/
Part-time Editorial and Production staff at the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Previously employed by Summersdale Publishers Ltd. This award-winning publisher offered me a permanent position based on my efforts as an intern. I worked here part-time alongside my undergraduate studies. My main responsibilities were research for marketing and editorial purposes, drafting ideas for book proposals, and answering queries via email and over the phone.
I have work experience with BBC South East Today; I shadowed various journalists. My duties included collating newspaper headlines and taking notes in preparation for broadcast, as well as involvement in the editing process for the evening news. I experienced a live broadcast in the studio gallery. My time here was invaluable, intensifying my passion for news broadcasting.
In 2016 I was fortunate enough to be offered a place at Renmin University in Beijing. I was part of the International Summer School programme, studying Chinese Mandarin.
In 2017 I participated in the SLV Global project in Sri Lanka for one month. I worked with children and adults on psychiatric wards, taught English, and facilitated workshops for people with mental health issues.
