UBM is a global live media and B2B communications, marketing services and data provider. I work as part of a team in the UBM Built Environment division to promote market leading luxury interior design trade and consumer exhibitions – Decorex International and the May Design Series - to exhibitors, visitors and VIPs. Originally a Marketing Assistant, I was promoted to Marketing Executive in September 2014 in recognition of my strong performance, proven project management skills and increased accountability for events over the past six months. My main responsibilities are: • Formulating the campaign objectives and plan for each exhibition, incorporating social media, exhibitor promotion, partner and email schedule. • Directing design agencies to create a range of promotional material, including advertisements, direct mail, show previews/catalogues, banners and websites, in line with event branding and corporate guidelines. • Guiding UBM’s website provider to develop campaign websites, on time and within budget, and updating the website throughout each campaign. • Drawing up weekly reports detailing campaign effectiveness, tracking the source of registrations and recommending new activity as each campaign progresses. • Managing the advertising schedule: researching appropriate media, booking advertising space and controlling activity within the budget. • Negotiating contra deals prior to each event with media partners and managing ongoing relationships. • Running social media accounts across events, including managing the allocated budget and researching new tools and applications to enhance reach and interaction. • Creating HTMLs to promote the exhibitions and segmenting data for effective targeting. • Liaising with in-house teams (sales, design, PR and content) to monitor event developments and adjust each marketing campaign as required. • Monitoring pay per click and telesales activity, and taking action as required.
A freelance role providing support at a time of peak activity to this specialist property PR company. • Creating case studies for clients: interviewing home purchasers, writing their stories, organising photography and liaising with clients for amendments and approval. • Writing entries for leading property awards: selecting and commissioning images to showcase each property and managing the production of these substantial documents through the design department. • Researching new business opportunities.
A full-time role, working mainly unsupervised, focusing on a project to launch a new awards scheme, the Brand Video Awards (BRAVES), which recognises and rewards the use of video by brands. • Developing a marketing plan and managing activity within the marketing budget. • Devising and implementing a social media strategy to promote the awards. • Handling enquiries from award entrants and taking action to resolve any problems. • Liaising with media partners to increase brand awareness. • Organising, as part of a team, a red carpet Awards Ceremony at the Leicester Square cinema for 400 people.
Working part-time as one of 15 students on Swansea University’s official event organising team: • Initiating, organising and marketing student events, including a Summer Ball for 3,000 students. • Liaising with a wide range of people to organise events, including agents representing celebrities, venue owners/managers, bar managers and other suppliers. • Attending events in a hands-on role to ensure their smooth running.
