Digital Content Producer/ Director/ WriterSydney, Australia
About me
Katharine was born in the UK and currently lives in Sydney Australia. Katharine began her screen career as a Runner on the Armando Iannucci show for Channel 4. She has more than 15 years experience working in film, television and theatre, both in the UK and Australia. She has been a Digital Content Producer at Sydney Opera House and for the last three years at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. In that role at SOH, Katharine has created, produced and directed, highly successful video content for the kids and families program, including two arts series, which have screened nationally on ABC TV and gained hundreds of thousands of views on the Sydney Opera House social media channels. She is an award-winning writer/director who has made five short films; three comedies, a narrative short, and a short documentary. Her films have screened in 5 countries and at more than 50 international film festivals. She has broken the golden rule of never working with children or animals; having directed a sheep, a dog, and 6-year-old child, though thankfully not all at once. Her short comedy SILENCE IS GOLDEN, won Best Comedy at Canada International Film Festival, screened at many acclaimed film festivals, including D.C Shorts in Washington and Asethetica Film Festival in York, before receiving theatrical distribution via 26 Spotlight Cinemas in the US, screening to an estimated audience of 250,000. In 2015/2016 her next short film DANCING WITH GENE KELLY screened at Academy Award Accredited festivals Flickerfest and St Louis Int Film Festival was distributed by Open Air Cinemas in Australia and screened on Virgin In-Flight entertainment two years in a row. Her latest film THAT’S LIFE had a world premiere at Best Independent Film Festival Germany in May 2017 and will screen at Sydney Indie Film Festival in September 2017. Katharine has a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Sunderland UK (2000) and a Masters of Media Arts and Production from UTS (2007). Katharine has been a pre-selector on the Sydney Film Festival advisory panel since 2014 and a member of Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts since 2015.
