I'm a London-based journalist, author, content director, and trends (insights & innovations) specialist with extensive experience within the fashion, retail and design industries. My last 15 years have been spent traversing the worlds of visual merchandising and store design for Habitat and Liberty; brand consultancy and project management at Yellowdoor, fashion production at Harpers Bazaar UK and editorial adventures for Dazed & Confused, The Times, Esquire, Glass, Vogue, Luxure, Hole & Corner, 125, Kilgour (The Culture Essays) and VOLT. I'm also the global Head of Retail (Trends, Insights & Innovations) at Stylus Media Group – a leading research & advisory agency that provides strategic design intelligence and forecasting services to companies worldwide; an inaugural member of London College of Fashion’s digital anthropology laboratory think-tank; and a regular contributor to award-winning fashion website SHOWstudio.com. I've also published two books, Stylists: New Fashion Visionaries (March 2012) and, most recently, Fashion & Music: Fashion Creatives Shaping Pop Culture (August 2016).
Stylus is one of the world’s leading research and advisory firms – a cross-disciplinary think- tank providing strategic design intelligence to the creative industries. Encompassing writing, editing, commissioning and public speaking, the role is anchored in providing expert insights into consumer behaviour, in-depth trends analysis and essential brand strategy/routes to innovation.
Creative consultancy including strategic analysis & planning, ideas generation and concept design. Specialist fields include retail, hospitality and residential design.
I regularly contribute to broadcast panel discussions for award winning digital fashion forum, SHOWstudio.com, including live analyses of seasonal catwalk shows. In April 2014 I participated in Italian luxury fashion brand Armani’s Tweet Talks – a global series of digitally broadcast open fashion conversations – discussing the connections between fashion and architecture.
Creative production and management of all main fashion stories and special projects. Pivotal to both the magazine’s brand perception and commercial reach, the role straddled casting, commissioning and project management.
Brand strategy and creative campaign management (including shoot production) for several of the UK’s leading fashion retailers including Oasis, Miss Selfridge, French Connection & John Smedley.
A pivotal role within the team assembled to tackle the creative re-branding of the famous department store. The role included the management and coordination of all creative projects including in-store concepts, special events and the seasonal window and VM treatments. High profile projects included collaborative window project (and Another Magazine feature) with fashion photographer Nick Knight and stylist Katy England; the photographic retrospective of photographer Chris Moore; and controversial window painting series with Central Illustration Agency illustrator, Andrew Foster.
Coordination of the production of all visual support material – graphics, visual merchandising interior fixtures and window schemes for all European stores.
