About me
Textile Designer who has built her craft developing an dynamic design aesthetic that explores digital platforms and includes passion for ethical sourcing. An organised and highly driven individual, she thrives in a challenging environment of working within a diverse and fast-paced industry. Katie combines her professional industry experience with her entrepreneurial and curious attitude to constantly deepen her artistic knowledge, translating into innovative design and collaboration with others. Katie recently graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class Honours in the BA of Textiles; Innovation and Design. Specialising in Integrated Digital Practice she has developed advanced skills in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) as well as Wilcom Digital Embroidery. She has gained strong awareness of colour, trends and knowledge of fabrics. The course required to undertake much research and to present this is ordered filing systems preparing her for the fashion industry, causing her to develop excellent organisational skills. Studying a year of Fashion Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta on an athletic and academic scholarship she developed skills of Pattern Cutting, Garment Construction and draping. Alongside her studies she assisted on studio shoots learning about styling and studio set up, with fashion photography and editorial being one of her passions. Being Hired as a Student- Model Katie attended senior students fittings and catwalk shows learning the entire process of collection development from initial sketches to the runway. Competing in competitive middle distance running, being part of the England Athletics team, caused Katie to develop excellent time management skills in order to balance intensive training with academic successes. Being part of numerous sport teams throughout school and university, progressed her ability to work within a team successfully and communicate effectively. Working at Wimbledon Championships further enhanced her ability to communicate over the phone and in person in a professional environment. Interning at Mary Katrantzou, Warehouse Clothes company and POP PR, gave Katie experience of working in a high pressured environment, where she thrived.

Katie included original photos she took on both film and digital photography as she explored the topic, edited on Indesign and photoshop to create strong visual layouts,

    'Rippled Reflections'Katie explores the shadows and reflections created by light travelling through water.
  • 'Space Between'
    'Space Between'Katie's streetwear inspired Textile collection focuses on the journey of one person to another through means of transport. The concept explores the growth of globalisation in the post-modern world which causes people to be separated. The individual developments work cohesively with one another, with the ability to layer different designs producing a diverse range of unique contemporary samples.

From completing this year abroad I achieved a Diploma of International Studies from Loughborough University. - Key Modules: Drawing 100, Design 100, Design 110, Advanced survey of computer art, and Colour Theory. - Specialised in fashion: Fashion Technology, Introduction to Fashion Design, Fashion Photography, Printmaking. - Hired as a student model, attended senior collection critiques, experienced styling, shoot process, and catwalk. Worked with Miss J Alexander. - Assisted on photo shoots and created personal photo shoots to present my work. Practiced street photography. !
