Work history
    Radio Broadcast Journalist
     - Kirkcaldy, United KingdomFreelance
Due to my work with Kingdom FM, I was invited to join their freelance news team. This entailed scripting stories, interviewing and producing three-minute live news bulletins. I also updated the website and Twitter feed. I often was the only journalist on shift so had to read all press releases and IRN updates making editorial decisions and prioritising tasks. I ran the studio coverage of the Scottish Independence Referendum
    Broadcast Editor
     - Edinburgh, United KingdomFull Time
I broadcast the Traffic and Travel news on Kingdom FM as part of the breakfast team. I worked on Talksport, Central Fm, Wave 102 and BBC London. Working with different radio stations and presenters requires varying my style to suit the station and show. I script and broadcast news and maintain a national database used by most radio stations in the UK. I train new staff, am responsible for public transport training and new members of staff shadow me as part of their induction. I benefited from additional training in the London office after I showed a particular interest in deepening my knowledge of a key aspect of my role. On occasion, I help our client, Traffic Scotland, with their Twitter account.

Awards
    Best Speech Programme
My final piece for my HND Radio Production was to produce a 30 minute speech programme. Due to my love of emerging musical talent in Scotland, I interviewed three bands at different stages of their careers. A small local band just starting out, a band just about to hit the big time Twin Atlantic and another Scottish band who were about to release their fourth album Frightened Rabbit. To give the piece extra gravitas I did not present it myself instead scripted links for BBC Scotland presenter Vic Galloway to record. My lecturer submitted this to the Creative Loop Student Awards and it won. Whilst I could not attend the event in Glasgow as I was visiting Ireland at the time I was devastated to discover upon returning that Tilda Swinton had presented the awards.
