About me
Hi 👋 I am a freelance writer, scriptwriter, editor, and social media consultant that writes about film, feminism, mental health, WOC life but most predominantly, music. _WRITING_ I am a weekly columnist gal-dem's Five On It and have also contributed to British GQ, CLASH, Loud & Quiet, Music Week, and more. I am the Time Out’s Community Correspondent for Birmingham and the Midlands and create SEO optimised copy. I am an editor at The Line of Best Fit, a massive champion of new artists and bands. As a freelance copywriter, I have been hired by clients such as Universal Denmark, Grönland Records, Lachs Harlekin, KARTEL Music, Cooking Vinyl. _BRAND AND SOCIAL_ My current experience leans towards the music industry. I established my brand Manifest to educate and assist emerging and unsigned musicians how to best market their release campaigns when they are just starting out and may not have the budget to hire a PR company. Services include consultation, asset creation (press releases, biographies, social media) and social media management. I have experience with Adobe suite, Wordpress, Squarespace, Google Drive and Microsoft Office. My time with Syncr Music has covered marketing and partnerships duties including establishing a brand tone of voice for social media campaigns, writing press releases for newsworthy projects and engaging copy for website, and creating pitch decks for potential partners – all with the aim of increasing paid subscribers to the platform. My successful partnership with Music Jobs converts to the acquisition of 42% of current subscribers, and I established their current influencer marketing program. I have spoken on panels at Focus Wales, M for Montreal and Capital FM's Big Music Project, and booked live gigs. _SCRIPTWRITING AND PRODUCTION_ I also write creatively with Birmingham-based female and non-binary arts group Script Sirens, as well as on an ad-hoc basis. I have written for our anthology audio drama Siren Screams (which placed 2nd for Independent Podcast on Pod Bible's 2020 Awards) and online web series Going Viral, written and produced entirely remotely during the first COVID-19 lockdown. I have just released my first short film, Young Empress,(think E.T, Stand By Me, Stranger Things) which I wrote, produced, casted and acted as First Assistant Director on shoot. I have twice acquired Arts Council Funding for projects. _MISC._ My big loves are - in no particular order - pop culture, Buffy, 2003-2009 emo, 2007 Britney, Timotheé Chalamet, goats and that band that no-one knows about (yet) I'm available for commission for scriptwriting, features, interviews, reviews and op-eds, as well as social media marketing, consultation, copywriting - or something new and interesting - at the below address.

Sean Paul: ‘When people say dancehall’s dead, I beg to differ. It’s thriving’ | British GQSince the worldwide success of second album Dutty Rock in 2002, Sean Paul has been the face of dancehall in the mainstream. He shares why he’s more excited than ever by the genre, the moment he realised he’d made it and getting Sia confused with Psy.
  • Young Empress: The Film
Young Empress: The FilmInspired by the music of synthwave artists Young Empress and paying homage to the look and feel of 80’s movies that inspire their work, this short film has been created collaboratively by a range of talented artists based in the West Midlands, UK, with the help of Arts Council England. I collaborated on the concept, wrote the script, produced the project, and acquired funding.
