About me
I am in my third and final year on the BA Contemporary Design Crafts course at Hereford College of Arts. I am a mature student and an established career in heritage and tourism. Whilst at college I have specialised in ceramics, in particular, porcelain. In my practise, I aim to incorporate texture and narrative, often creating very simple forms that will carry an intended message. I seek to combine my professional interests in the heritage and industry of South Wales, with my ceramics, developing a narrative about the natural assets that gave this area the opportunity to lead the world. I have created an approach to making vessels inspired by the geology of the area, and for my graduate show I am working on a series of installations about the Aberfan Disaster, which was a changing point in the history of South Wales. My work is hand built or cast, integrating textures, colours and oxides. The narrative may be developed within a single vessel, or by combining numerous elements for wall displays or installations.
