Lingerie/Nightwear and Swimwear/Beach Design InternASOS

For one month I worked alongside the Lingerie and Swimwear design team where I:
- Assisted the lingerie designers, researching into themes that would be the initial inspiration for S/S19 designs
- Designing for S/S19 collections where my designs will be sold on site
- Researching into graphics for maternity nightwear
- Overseeing meetings with ASOS' suppliers where I selected fabric samples for future reference and use
- Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, creating mood boards for current and future themes
- Developing underwear designs on Adobe Illustrator
- Researching relevant trends, product, trims & fabrics, reacting quickly to new trends
- Finalising designs on spec sheets
- Understanding the roles and expectations of the staff in the in house pattern and sample room
- Assisting in the production of trend packs and catwalk presentations
- Organising and co-ordinating samples after fit sessions to send back to the manufacturers
- Selecting pantones nearest to the print colours
Whilst with the Swimwear design team I:
- Researched into themes for both S/S19 and A/W18
- General design and trend research on relevant websites and blogs
- Finalising themes and images which I then curated into mood boards using Adobe Illustrator
- 3D design development - designing and developing embellished swimwear pieces for S/S19 including one-pieces and 2 pieces which will be put on site
- Gathering simplistic swimwear inspiration for A/W18
- Curating mood boards for current and future design inspiration
Participating in fit evaluations for Swimwear, Lingerie and Nightwear where I had an input in my design and technical ideas to correct fit and improve design.

- Curating and selecting images to create primary mood board drafts of the predicted trends for S/S17 in swimwear and lingerie.
- Overseeing these trend meetings with the lingerie and swimwear teams to produce a more concise trend that the Debenhams woman would love, then personally selecting the strongest images from the primary trend boards to produce final mood boards on illustrator for their 4 trends.
- Participating in fit evaluations in fuller bust and brands in Debenhams, taking notes for the technical files.
- During my time at Debenhams, I learnt how they approached design, which originated from trend prediction. It was particularly beneficial to see how my skills on Illustrator and Photoshop are needed to create technical flats and mood boards. It allowed me to see how I would love to work in the lingerie and swimwear design team in the industry, and how much I enjoyed trend prediction.
