LKC TEXTILES are designed and created by Laura Kate Callaway.
Laura Callaway is a mixed media artist, specialising in illustrated and bespoke hand-crafted designs. She combines traditional and modern textile techniques, and works with a variety of materials to create surfaces for a range of applications. She specialises in mixed-media print and hand embroidery, with an emphasis on hand-rendered illustration in combination with traditional stitch techniques.
With a passion for colour, texture and narrative imagery, Laura is a creator of unique and exciting textiles that tell a visual story. Collections are connected through shape, colour, material or technique, always led by an initial question, concept or theme.
Inspired by the world around; changes in nature, forgotten objects, accidental marks of life, memories, moods, moments, stories and words; Laura has produced diverse imagery and textiles for a range of applications, including fashion, visual art, interior and exterior spaces, contemporary craft, packaging and stationery.
Projects
- Not Broken; BeautifulI was inspired by the Japanese term ‘Wabi-Sabi’. It is a concept meaning to find perfection in imperfection. Inspired also by the Japanese art of Kintsugi (to repair broken pottery with liquid gold), I combined these ideas with my love of colour, to create textile pieces for the body. The pieces have been printed both digitally from my drawings of brokenness and erosion, and by hand using heat press techniques. Designer of bespoke wedding invitations for personal clients, and creator of table place names, signs, illustrations and guest book for wedding venue. This is currently an ongoing project working closely with client.
Garden Artist

Commissioned designer of unique illustration for large scale exterior spaces, hand-painted for personal client onto garden building as commemorative memorial. The memorial gathered attention from onlookers and has sparked follow-up projects from other clients, with a new commission currently in progress.
