About me
Hi, my name is Laura I am a recent Graduate. I studied Art&design specialising in costume and fashion. I achieved a 1st class honours and won the inspirational student award upon graduation.
In my final year I created and managed my very own runway. Both designing and making 30 garments as well as constructing a runway set in line with my projects theme which was empowering female characters with reference to historical women’s movements.
Upon graduating I have since worked as a textile councillor at a summer camp in the USA. I now currently work as a machine embroiderer.
My passion however is to work within the costume industry or within fashion design. I am now looking to take that next step in my career to move forward!
Times have been very hard during this year but despite this I have managed to keep a job within the textiles industry and carry on working towards my career goals.

Within the Crossly gallery I was given a section to present some of the garments from my runway show. I created a mintier version of the set and took time to present some stand out pieces from my collection. I have presented work in this gallery in previous year however 2019 was when I was given the most room and I was really able to present my work how I wanted. The experience was valuable as I took time to learn how work should be presented within a professional art gallery.

After completing a HND I finished my degree with
Calderdale college however the course was based at Dean Clough in Halifax. The aim of the course was to learn to work within the art industry but also following your own pathway and creating art within a specialist area within the arts that you wish to work in the future.
