About me
As someone who has always loved learning new skills and building things from scratch, whether it be making a piece of jewellery for a friend’s birthday, learning how to upcycle furniture or putting together a cupboard from Ikea, I’ve always found satisfaction in completing hands-on, creative projects. With a successful career in book publishing, I found myself wanting to be more creative and found inspiration from people who I knew that were learning to code and building websites of their own. I went along to meet-ups, took some online courses and came to the decision to join the General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive to switch careers and embark on a journey in web development. Excited by the prospects ahead, the notes in my phone quickly became filled with ideas for apps and websites. Before joining the course, I spent 18 months in a digital venture support role to assimilate myself with the tech industry, working with product managers, engineers and designers where I gained invaluable knowledge about the lifecycle of a start-up and the world of technology in general. I believe that true learning is being creative and I look forward to being able to continue my career of learning and growing my skills in web development.
