I am a Bournemouth University graduate with a BA (Hons) Events Management degree. I am looking for a graduate opportunity within the events industry, however I am also open to looking with the sports industry, music and entertainment industry, and the fashion and beauty industry.
I work for the Student Union Bournemouth University (SUBU) in a part-time capacity in a managerial role. I have worked her for four years now, having been promoted within my first 6 months. My roles include: money handling, venue security, team and project management, leadership and running the bar and kitchen.
I was asked by an ex-boss to manage his wedding reception for a guestlist of 140+. My responsibilities included: team management, venue management, food and beverage management, gift receipt, tech management and cash management.
Crown asked me to return to freelance for the Sony European Trade Show 2016, which involved spending two weeks on-site as part of a team of 4. My roles on-site included client liaison, transfer management, catering management, registration management and schedule management. I was the only coordinator with experience working on this particular event, which led to my involvement in many decisions and day-to-day running. I also had a previously established relationship with the client.
For my third consecutive year at Bournemouth 7's, I was invited back to run the same tent as the previous year (the Big Top Dance Tent). Responsibilities included: £5000 Cash float management Team management and leadership of 12+ Festival management liaison Security and first aid liaison Stock management Artist liaison Bar management Till management and overseeing
I spent my placement year with Crown BC; an award-winning independent creative communications and live events agency. There were over 100 applicants for two placement posts, and I was fortunate enough to get one after two successful face-to-face interviews, a task and a telephone interview. I was thrown straight in the deep end at Crown, where I naturally fell into the logistics department, working on projects including the Citroen National Dealership Conference, Sony World Photography Awards and a series of HS2 Community Engagement Events. I also worked in Production, Technical, office management, Finance, admin, Marketing and pitching. I would often contribute to pitches, and wrote a section for a Government pitch for final submission. I was consistently asked to proof-read for pitch submissions after proving my eye for detail. I was sent on-site numerous times and had the opportunity to work with a vast array of clients in all manner of industries, such as BAT, Peugeot, Sony, Denso and SABMiller. On several occasions, I was given specific areas to manage such as registration, VIPs and catering, taking on more responsibility as I demonstrated what I could do and trust was built. For the Citroen Nation Dealership Conference, the Sony EU Trade Show, Sony World Photography Awards, and Peugeot 2008 Sales Brand Event, I was tasked with managing the on-site logistics of getting everyone to and from the event on time, using documents I built before going on-site. Everything went smoothly and I received great feedback from both my managers and the clients.
My second year with B7's saw me become a tent manager, where I was responsible for the running of the 'Big Top Dance Tent'. I was responsible for managing a £5000 cash float, maintaining 9 tills, managing a team of 10+, liaising with security, festival management and artists, and stock management. Hours ran from 08:00-02:00 over three consecutive days. I received great feedback for my work with Bournemouth 7's and am now a recognised tent and bar manager.
During my first stint freelancing for Bournemouth 7's, I started as a normal bar staff member to gain experience and knowledge. I worked two consecutive days from 8:00-02:00.
My final year modules included Financial Management, Strategy and Leadership, Small Business Management, International Events Management, and my dissertation. My dissertation was concerning Leadership within UK Events Agencies.
