Freelance Front End Web DeveloperUnited Kingdom
About me
A Front End Web Developer specialising in creative, innovative, user-centric projects and a background in working within an in-house/agency based teams. Previously ASOS, YOOX Net a Porter, Aesop Agency and now available for freelance projects. Previously working as Digital Recruiter for TOPSHOP TOPMAN, I found myself fascinated by how our ecommerce platform worked and the intricacies of the digital world. I was inspired to dive feet first into a career in web development and joined the immersive course at General Assembly. Upon completion I have gained hands on experience as an in-house Front End Web Developer. I also teach introductory coding part-time at General Assembly and am actively involved in raising awareness of careers in technology for women through Women in Tech and STEMgirls.

  • Mode
ModeThis was many years in the making for me. I had always saved pictures of the clothes I had bought in a virtual wardrobe on my phone then used an editing app to create outfits. Maybe a little strange but it turned out to be really efficient and I soon had friends asking me to do the same for them. It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to do this, I knew there were apps that existed already but I found them clunky and not very visually appealing. Queue 'Mode' (Swedish word for fashion), a MEAN stack RESTful app, built using my own API and designed using bootstrap and SASS. I initially envisioned it as a Ruby on Rails app however I decided practising my Angular.js would be more beneficial in the current market so made the switch and managed to get an MVP within four days of starting the project. The biggest focus for me was ensuring a slick customer journey and beautiful visuals, I wanted something that myself and my friends would actually want to use. I used them as a testing group and tried different themes and layouts before landing on this. There is still a huge amount of functionality I would like to add, including making it a more social experience, adding sharing buttons and allowing users to follow each other. I'd also like users to be able to link the app to their online receipts (given by bricks and mortar stores like TOPSHOP and Zara now too) so their newly purchased items were automatically added to their wardrobe. Built with - jQuery, JavaScript, ES6, CSS, HTML, BCrypt, TDD, Tokens, Ajax, JSON, Express, Node.js, Mongoose, Mongo, SCSS, Bootstrap, Gulp and Bower.

I joined Aesop Agency to build creative campaign pages for a range of clients. As the only developer on the team it gave me lots of exposure to new technologies and the opportunity to grow as a developer. Although only there for a short time I built two campaign pages and an exciting WebGL interactive data visualisation piece.

Initially bought on to support a project with the Content Team at The Outnet. It focused on moving from a legacy, monolithic code base and creating a new React Component Library, that plugged into our headless content management system. I then delivered training to the wider business and created supporting documentation, so they could build all homepages, campaign pages, the editorial landing page and any additional areas of content through their CMS. After completing this project, I worked on new functionality and changes to the product landing and product display pages.
