Content acquisition and strategy for PlayStation Video, Sony Network Entertainment’s EST/TVOD platform, based in London, reporting to the Senior Director of Global Content in Los Angeles and primarily responsible for the offering in EU and Australia. Content Acquisitions o Identifying and engaging with potential new partners in the EU region to grow the business. o Managing commercial negotiations for new deals and renewal/amendment of existing deals and tracking all open matters. o Leading efforts with partners to obtain rights needed to deliver new video features and functionality. o Re-negotiation of expired or soon-to-expire deals. o Collaborating with the Pricing team in respect of relevant changes to deals or new pricing initiatives, including preparation and review of analysis of the commercial consequences of such changes. o Active review and analysis of current pricing structures for content for the EU/AU stores and where necessary, working with the teams in LA to propose and secure more beneficial pricing. o Liaising with legal to ensure all contractual elements are papered and correct parties informed once completed. Content Partnerships o Arranging and leading regular meetings with key EU-based partners, including teams from Major Studios in order to provide regular business and product updates. o Performing ongoing analysis of performance of current global and territory specific partners to identify opportunities/areas of concern and provide general business updates. o Re-engaging dormant partners. o Video process end-to-end review. Identifying and proposing improvements and encouraging and helping to implement the necessary changes. o Managing the London-based Content Partnerships Manager and overseeing the day-to-day interaction with EU partners. Strategy/Business Development o Undertaking research and commercial analysis across the EU territories to assist SNE Global Video in setting the Global content strategy and programming direction. o Working with the EU team to implement and manage the content strategy and programming direction in EU and Australia. o Working with the Reporting & Planning team to conduct on-going analysis and development of regional KPIs. o Seeking out new business and partnership opportunities with the Major Studios and existing key partners in the EU region to grow the business. By looking at the Video content lifecycle end to end and working with different Sony teams, identified new opportunities and delivered a more joined-up approach to partners. o Working with the Digital Commerce Team and relevant Sony Computer Entertainment teams to optimise the commercial offer on Video, including Ad Sales and PlayStation Plus. o Collaborating with product managers in the development and implementation of new functionality and features for the service, including attending planning sessions with developers to illustrate business requirements and reporting back to the UK team to ensure buy in for new features. o Oversaw a large piece of VoD research in Europe and Australia by an external agency and worked on the implementation of the resulting action points.
Working with the Investment Directors of the Film and Television teams in all aspects of the development, operation and closing of the Ingenious Broadcasting Funds, Ingenious Estate Planning products and Shelley Media Funds, including: o Ensuring the timely deployment of capital raised, including responsibility for sourcing and evaluating television and film production opportunities in the UK and abroad, negotiating and executing complex production financing deals, instructing and managing legal resources and monitoring deal pipeline and transaction progress. o Preparing financial modelling of potential investments, including full analysis of the projected profitability of such investment as well as all risks associated with such activity and their mitigation. o Working to diversify the investment portfolio into broader genres of content, and continue to expand slate into Australasian, Canadian, American and European projects. o Undertake extensive and active business development, including attending various markets including MIPTV and MIPCOM. Sourced and closed deals with BAFTA winning producers. o Managing the portfolio of closed deals, including monitoring costs and revenues, maintaining relationships with deal partners and reporting to investors. o Fund management and administration and assisting the sales team in raising capital.
