About me
I'm an experienced senior marketer, brand communicator and PR pro with 10 years' experience in B2B & B2C roles. After working up the ladder within some really exciting companies, in June 2018, I decided to go it alone. I'm now a Freelance Consultant, working predominantly with Digital, Tech & B2B businesses, predominantly in the North East, UK.
I'm passionate about communications strategies that spark a conversation. I love creating campaigns and content that make an impact and deliver on business objectives. My campaigns are founded on data and customer insight, not guesswork. I'm a huge content marketing fan and produce creative and unique pieces for my clients to use in PR outreach, social media and on their blog.
I'm an Accredited PR Practitioner & member of the CIPR (previously sat on the North East CIPR executive committee as Secretary) and I’m part of the North East Chamber of Commerce's Women's Advisory Board. I’m also Hubspot-certified and know a thing or two when it comes to inbound marketing.
I'm a brand fanatic, with proven experience in establishing brands, refining positioning and delivering on strategy. This innate sense of branding has been strengthened by independent work with brands like French Connection, Nespresso, Fentimans, Fenwick, Hungry House, Red Hot Sunglasses, DFDS, Craft Gin Club, Hello Fresh, Travelodge & BuzzFeed.
My work has seen me recognised in the Women in Marketing awards 2019 & 2017 and I’m named as one of The Journal’s ‘Top 35 under 35’ NE Business Talent 2016, as well as being featured in The Drum’s annual ‘Top 50 women in digital under 30’ list. I’ve also picked up some silverware for my long-established food blog, Scran on the Tyne.

Reporting to the CEO, I headed up the Brand Marketing team, driving all Marketing, PR, Digital and Events activities and leading a team of 4. I was responsible for overall brand communications strategy, internal and external, and played a central role in communicating Board-level decisions across the company, often participating in Board meetings for communications consultation.

For 3 years, I led all Marketing & PR comms at Silverbean, a leading performance marketing agency in the affiliate marketing space.
Responsible for growing the Silverbean brand, through the creation of unique thought-leading content, creation and management of our website, as well as taking a lead on our outgoing brand messaging materials.
I led a full rebrand and rolled out new collateral agency-wide, as well as providing resources to get the team on board with our brand and messaging.
I also determined and delivered our agency Marketing Strategy, with a focus on PR, an events series and multimedia content such as video and webinars. My outbound marketing strategy was key to attracting new clients, growing the profile of the agency and the people within it and building a company that people really wanted to work for.

Studied a wide breadth across both English and American Literature including modules in Creative Writing, Post-war British Poetry, Feminist Poetry & Prose, Medieval British Literature and Film Noir. Developed an ability to undertake self-managed studies, be efficient and prioritise tasks effectively in order to meet deadlines. Within this course I also completed 1 academic year as a teaching assistant, working at three schools throughout the region. Following my degree, I completed a PgDip in Broadcast Journalism, accredited by the NCTJ.
