About me
I am a maker and photographer based in the South West of England, UK, whose practice explores selfhood through fantasy and escapism. Building immersive visual worlds through the development of characters, costumes and sets, my work captures a liminal space that sparks the imagination. Experienced in leading workshops, specifically developing and running a series of photographic residencies, I also look to extend beyond the personal, sharing the joy and catharsis of creative playfulness. @leahgordonsart

'Orbit' Exhibitions Bristol and LondonOver the last year I have been one of the core producers for my cohorts Degree shows in Bristol and London June 2024. One of my main responsibilities included coordinating and overseeing the huge fundraising effort needed to put the shows together. This included organising a Photobook and Print Auction Silent Auction held at the Martin Parr Foundation, Bristol. I also arranged for the wonderful photographer Annie Collinge to give a talk about her practice on the opening night of our London sho

How to Kill a Shadow‘How to Kill a Shadow’ is an ongoing project which documents the search for lost parts of my childhood, eroded by trauma, and pieced back together through cryptic dreams and fragmented memories. Within this landscape, the past and the present, the real and the imaginary, as well as states of consciousness, though capricious, are unified and mediated by the persisting presence of shadows. This project presents a therapeutic attempt to fill in the gaps left by old wounds through returning to creat

As a part of Cræftiga Collective, I helped organise and facilitate a creative residency for 60 Photography students in Okehampton, Dartmoor. The residency was titled 'Something Wicked this Way Comes', with the ethos and workshops of the weekend being themed around folklore, connecting to nature through creativity, taking influence from the right to roam protests at the beginning of 2023 to get the artists in attendance to think about how to use their practices can be used as a political tool.

    Bridgwater, United Kingdom
As a part of Cræftiga collective, this was our first creative residency instalment. We hosted 20 students in a beautiful manor outside of Bridgwater, theming the weekend around play. I ran a series of quick fire activities which then influenced the main workshop of the weekend, working in groups to create a fairytale inspired fashion story out of materials provided. We then presented the results in a group crit at the end of the weekend. The aim of the residency was to get the students to bond with one another through playful, highly creative means, trying out new things to hopefully impact their own creative practice. We also provided home cooked meals each night, with themed dress up dinner parties. This first residency was such a success that we decided to make it a regular occurrence.
