About me
I gr[apple] with questions surrounding the role of an audience, exploring how performativity can extend beyond an artwork to encompass the viewer. I am driven by concept and a meta-theoretical framework, constructing props that have the potential to transmogrify a fictional landscape, making nostalgic games and childhood stories feel tangible and immersive. Apple iconography is nuanced with dual meaning and therefore an interesting motif to give agency to through sculpture.

I studied BA Fine Art at Central St Martins, graduating with First Class Hons. My final project, ‘A Unique Business Proposal’ extends the dialogue of my sculptures into the corporate realm, testing how far the corporate landscape will foster artistic endeavours. Framing my work through this fictional narrative invites the viewer to consider the unseen labour behind production as a fundamental element of the work. In this sense, process and production are equally as valuable to the project. What once started as a labour of love, sculpting these apples, turned sour. There is a sense of tension between my internal desire to be free from the apple sculptures in contrast to the external demands of the market, which is nonexistent. Essentially, the project is a playful, humorous commentary on my experiences of producing art, which is often nonsensical and all about the conceptual punchline.
