Am working on changing careers into graphic design. Having completed a degree in design and innovation with The Open University whilst studying full time within an NHS healthcare organisation, I realised that I would like to pursue a career that uses all of my skills that I have acquired in a a more creative way where I can make a difference. Am a life long learner with lots of curiosity about the world and how it works, am able to use own initiative and creativity to resolve problems, won employee of the month for the first time it was initiated at my current company (Dec 2015). Working privately as an assistant to a Speech therapist, providing neurological speech therapy programmes using specialist software, technology and equipment such as eyegaze, adaptive mouses, readers, voice command control software, teaching them the basics from using an ipad to a computer. So that they are able to still live an independent life even with their condition, through the use of technology
Community neurological therapy assistant role providing programmes of rehab intervention with clients who have a neurological condition (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, brain injury, MND) in gaining further independence within their home, leisure or work life. Understanding and experience of challenges faced by adults with disabilities and long term conditions and their families, teaching prescribed exercise programmes, cognition strategies, speech exercises, using advanced technology and software on devices and computers to gain confidence and independence. Able to demonstrate tact, empathy, offer support and reassurance but also to negotiate and motivate clients when working in these environments with clients and colleagues. Whilst working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of OTs, physios, psychologist, SLTs, dietitians and liaising with GPs, nurses and other professionals.
Evening course for one year. Where I gained an overall understanding of printmaking, whilst building on and developing an in depth interest in two printmaking disciplines; screen printing and lino cut. Enhanced my core skills of drawing, sketch book work, critical reflection and discussion and basic photography, whistling building networks with other like-minded individuals and print studios.
