October 1999, London, was when I studied at Central St Martins in Graphic Design & Communication. A two week work experience placement at GQ mens magazine in my 2nd year, and all my student loan spent on coffee’s for the art team, meant it lasted a lot longer and lead me straight from university into the world of magazines.
I worked on luxury and lifestyle brands like GQ, Elle, Tatler and InStyle over a 14 year career in publishing, becoming an experienced Art Director & Creative Designer. Taking on the Digital Art Director role while at Tatler, I took 2D print designs, and creatively turned them into interactive engaging fun experiences on tablets and mobiles. I loved the challenge, but it also subconsciously started an itch which inevitably was going to be scratched into the digital design world.
In 2016, I bravely went back to college and passed with distinction a Digital & Web Design course. This strengthened my previous experience on digital and web design projects I had ventured on in my spare time with other brands.
I love the design process and the finished product is a rush and a journey, something I never want to lose in my life. Creating something from nothing, that will be around for people to see is incredibly rewarding. With no ego, my passion is design and the relationships I build with people along the way. Getting lost, making mistakes, mistakes leading into ideas, and the finished, beautiful end result never gets boring! Some clients have even become friends – bonus!
