The job role for this particular work placement followed the same template as the Gap Inc. role however there were slight differences such as the software that was used. So instead of using Fashion GPS to log products they used PRshots as an alternative.

There were many different roles to the job: • First role that I had to complete every morning was to collect the newspapers and any pub-lications from reception. I would have to look through them to see if Gap was featured any-where and this coverage then had to be logged on to a Monthly Coverage Report. I would usually check Gorkana first because it indicated which publishers had printed articles on GAP, so I would look at them first. • I had administrative work which included updating databases of information, and preparing coverage presentations. This had a heavy focus on any coverage, which would be logged in different folders which corresponded to whether the articles were online/print, regional, monthly, social etc. Social looked at the social media accounts of influencers and bloggers that had been sent press gifts and capturing any posts that had GAP. This was all then col-lated together to produce a monthly Coverage Report on Microsoft PowerPoint. • I was able to choose sample items that were to be sent off to publishers, one example was for OK magazine who were doing to do a 70’s style shoot with two segmentations; floral and denim. I had to go off of a specification that had been asked from the publicist. For the floral items, I had to choose cardigans/hooded cardigans of which could be worn over floral dresses. For denim, they were looking for jeans, jackets, shirts, shirt dresses, roll necks and jumpsuits. Items were either taken from the show room or the back room. • Booking out and packing samples to be sent/ to publications, stylists and social media influ-encers within the UK. These were all recorded through Fashion GPS which was very easy to navigate and felt comfortable using it independently after a brief demonstration. This was also used to log items that had been returned. • Assisting with the set up for GAP’s release of the Sarah Jane Parker collection. • Sending out press gifts. I was allowed to influence how gifts should be packaged and was in charge of putting the gifts together. I was very highly praised at gap for being “Positive”, “Hardworking” and having a “Can-do attitude”. They were also very keen about having me back in the PR Head Office to do a longer 3-month work placement. I was also commended on my ability to be quick and organized.
