Oversaw the development of the content for the new Urgent Actions online platform – https://www.amnesty.org.uk/urgent-actions – utilising my multimedia journalism background to create more shareable, user-friendly content. Responsible for all copy published under both the featured urgent actions page and urgent actions resource page – this involved translating jargon heavy content and re-writing content sent from other countries. Developing the new Urgent Actions email update system – this involved building multiple mass email variations in Adestra, altering written content, and working closely with the digital and data teams. I also received training in Movable Ink, which we will be using for our email builds in the future. Dealing with tough issues and ethical dilemmas – eg: will campaigning for this person put them in more danger? Managing the Urgent Actions inbox – a shared inbox that receives content from around the world. *This is a contracted part-time role, not freelance, but there is no part-time option in the dropdown menu.

    Content EditorHeatwave Magazine
    London, United KingdomFreelance
I launched this magazine with two friends in 2015. We produce content based primarily on culture, art and music. Heatwave hosts and promotes branded events in London and Amsterdam. All recent events turned a profit. I interact with advertisers, company and PR representatives, while aiming to build and maintain long-term relationships within a niche community/market. This role requires the ability to communicate across cultural borders, through digital channels, to a diverse and widespread audience, as well as our international writer base. I am involved with running the website, writing stories, editing stories, directing writers, shooting and editing videos and photos. I sub-edit the entire magazine, upload content via CMS and arrange page furniture in InDesign. We utilise digital resources, including social media and SEO, for both advertising/marketing purposes, as well as community interaction.

My senior project was a multimedia feature on urban farming and gentrification in Baltimore City. It included original video, audio quotes, maps, photos and basic CSS. This project won best photography in the Multimedia Reporting Capstone course.
